What it’s like when you can’t trust things you took for granted

Trust thought for today - is about the feeling of disorientation, instability when you feel you can't trust things that you took for granted.

Spiking: Women scared to go out amid rise in cases, MP says

We have all felt this with Covid in one way or another I think. A very mild version of this came to me recently when Google maps went off piste on a complicated journey and I realised that if I can't actually trust this I was utterly adrift and helpless.

A more serious issues is this phenomenon of women having drinks spiked and even injected with needles. My son in Newcastle says that girls are scared, as it seems to be happening more, but they are mainly disoriented and annoyed that another freedom has been taken away because they can't trust what they are drinking.

Without waiting for police guidance most pubs there are now serving drinks with a little cardboard lid on the glass. The ones that aren't are losing business fast. "If the girls aren't going to the bar, then for sure the boys won't be going." The ones who have signs and website messages saying 'we are very careful about our customer's safety' and are doing nothing at all, are most reviled.
