As I was pondering real world scenarios for a more collaborative approach, this excellent blog from Fraser Sampson the Biometrics & Surveillance Commissioner pops into my In Box. It is a great run through of the issues around Facial Recognition, 'function creep' and shows so clearly how potentially one good and useful thing leads to another we find ourselves at the bottom of the slipperly slope to mass surveillance and ubiquitous FR, which we may not actually want.

I have spiel on the governance of the slippery slope, put up guardrails, salt, steps etc. Theoretically good, but in this instance, I really can't see the process or the moment or the category description for saying 'no, we don't want to go there, so we will do this, or stop now, no more beyond this'.
