Eye catch trust stats and their limitations in isolation

Trust thought for today - How eye catching stats about trust are great for clickbait headlines, but are of limited help if they end there.

Thanks very much to Joe Zammit-Lucia for sending me this interesting article at a timely moment in my research on Measuring Trust. This type of trust measurement, the 'Temperature Check' style I mentioned in yesterday's intro to measuring trust (https://bit.ly/3q07Uf6) is fascinating to read and useful to know, but is only the starting point. There is lots of good stuff in there and thoughts on what it might be, but as the author here says "Each of these data points could, of course, have multiple causes. But together they point in a worrisome direction: We may be in the midst of a trust recession".

YES - but unless we really try harder to understand the multiple causes of distrust, rather than just getting off on the headlines, we won't know how to rebuild it and get ourselves out of the 'trust recession', or is it actually a 'trustworthiness recession'? (The clue may be in the graphic!)

I am always minded of Kahneman's observation, 'Don't try to persuade, understand the source of resistance, and address that."
