First ever standard for good governance

Trust thought for today - first ever international standard for good governance ISO 37000. Is this governance trustworthy and will that help build trust in business?

"Good governance not only fosters an environment of trust, transparency and accountability, it also helps align an organization’s purpose with the interests of society, building strong stakeholder relationships while effectively managing and maintaining its resources. In this way, good governance lays the foundation for the long-term success of organizations and ensures they contribute to the protection and restoration of social, economic and natural environmental systems."

Won't argue with that! But will it work in achieving those aims? Particularly when Soft Law in general is often seen as ineffectual and previous 'responsibility-style' standards don't appear to have done much for trust, or responsibility, though is this down to the standard, the companies approach to adhering to it or my scepticism?

Any thoughts anyone?! Roger Miles, Dr Raj Thamotheram, Mark Miller, Philipp Kristian ♾ Mathew Mytka Nathan Kinch
