Governance of synthetic meat. Let’s get to it quick

Trust thought for today - interesting trust and governance issues here with governance of synthetic meat and Impossible Foods. (I think no paywall, sorry if there is). Three things stuck out:

Welcome to the Synthetic Meatspace in Wired

1. The usual over hype - "Breakthroughs in synthetic biology could cure diseases—and change our relationship to life itself". Or is it - sort of but......all the others have over puffed, so I am not holding my breath - Nuclear (energy too cheap to meter); GMOs (end to hunger), Nanotech (cure cancer by 2015).

2. Governance not being up to date enough, so having to get by on voluntary approaches initiated by companies. They actually can't say they didn't see this coming, Impossible Foods have been puffing it up for many years.

3. Companies trying to look trustworthy whilst not quite doing all the work that it takes.

So, let's see if we can have trustworthy governance, trustworthy companies and stop killing animals. What's not to like.

FYI, I'm all for the synthetic meat as a veggie. Burgers I'm happy with the Beyond Beef pea protein burger which I can't tell the difference. But synbio belly pork with real crackling. Now you're talking..
