Kindness and trust
Trust thought for today - about kindness and intent.
Kindness important particularly I think in relation to interpersonal trust and perhaps demonstrates unselfishness in my Intent box. It would seem sensible to construe also that societies where people are kinder to each other, also trust each other and also work better.
But there isn't much research on it. So BBC and University of Sussex are conducting research and a Kindness Test to find out more about what it means. Give it a go here and help us all find out. (I am not sure I am as kind as I would like to consider myself to be!). They are looking to answer questions such as:
* What are the most common kind acts people carry out?
* Where do people most often experience kindness?
* What are the barriers to behaving more kindly?
* How is kindness valued in the workplace?
* Is kindness viewed as a weakness?
* What prevents people from being kinder?
* How does kindness relate to factors such as well-being, mental health, geographical location, gender and personality?
* How is kindness connected with compassion and empathy?
* How does kindness relate to our value systems?
I'd like to add to that: 'Is kindness contagious". Stimulated by a question from Darrin Charlesworth on my trust course Forum: 'Is Trust Contagious'. A great and important question!
