Too much trust in IT - again
Trust thought for today - another shocking example of how distrusting people and trusting machines ruins people's lives. Another Post Office style scandal here at the Home Office.
The English Test that ruined thousands of lives
Bad data from a flawed testing system has meant that "2,500 people were deported and at least 7,200 more were forced to leave Britain after testing company ETS accused them of cheating in an exam it set and marked. Others who remain in the UK continue to fight to clear their names after enduring years of hardship."
"Home Office has continued to try to remove people based on the claims of the international testing organisation ETS - despite knowing of serious concerns about its conduct and flaws in its data".
Money, arse covering, corruption and wilful blindness on an industrial scale. AGAIN.
Wondering how much worse this is going to get when it is not bog-standard IT or dodgy tests, but fancy impenetrable, unprovable AI doing the finger pointing
Thank you Anna McDonald for the heads up. Good on BBC Newsnight for investigating and highlighting the problem.
